The 11 Greatest Children's Books

And the lists just keep coming. This one a countdown list of classics from the BBC in April 2015. A very safe, traditional list that could have been written any time since 1968 when the most modern of these books was published (A Wizard of Earthsea).

11. Little House on the Prairie - Laura Ingalls Wilder

10. A Wrinkle in Time - Madeleine L'Engle (see my review)

9. A Wizard of Earthsea - Ursula K. Le Guin

8. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - Roald Dahl

7. Winnie-the-Pooh - A.A. Milne

6. The Little Prince - Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

5. Little Women - Louisa May Alcott

4. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - Lewis Carroll

3. Where the Wild Things Are - Maurice Sendak

2. The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe - C.S. Lewis

1. Charlotte's Web - E.B. White

8/11. Probably my best score ever. I will read the rest at some time. I think all 11 of these books are covered in my 1001.
