Lake Macquarie is a picturesque lake a few hours north of Sydney. I grew up there and still visit quite regularly. It's a great place to watch birds and it was actually watching the birds there when we lived on the waterfront for a year that got me interested in seeking out birds.
I went for a walk at a local park, and saw lots more species this day, but most weren't quite so happy to sit still for a photo.

Galahs are quite common birds over most of Australia, I see them pretty much every day. Often in my own
backyard. I love this photo though, for the beautiful scaled effect he's got going with his feathers.

I've never seen Comorants other than the Brandt's Comorants we have on the coast near here (and they are completely black). I like the ruffled feathers look of the Galah too. I'm glad you pointed it out because I was focused on the colorful head.
These are so intereresting. We just don't see birds like that out in the wild here.

Nice of the cormorant to pose for you. He's quite striking with the white underparts. We have Double Crested Cormorants, which are mostly black, fly overhead but they never cooperate and land for a photo op.
You are lucky to have just interesting and pretty bird to photograph. Only lowly robins and sparrows in my yard. Of course, there are no oceans here either. !
I like the Galah with its red scarf and the flying Corellas which looks like an impressionist painting.

Love the corellas over the lake. That is beautiful. My grandmother lived on that lake for a number of years, at Wangi Wangi. I see what you mean about the scalloping on the galah. It's really pretty. Keep on shooting those birds!
