Rhododendron Garden Blackheath

Blackheath in the Blue Mountains (2 hours west of Sydney) is a lovely spot. They are very famous for their Rhodendron Garden, the town even holds a Rhododendron Festival each spring. Our recent visit was a few weeks after the festival, but the gardens were still worth visiting, even though they were past their best.

Waratahs- our state flower

Hopefully next year we'll make it back when the garden is at it's peak.

Saturday Snapshot, is a wonderful weekly meme from at home with books

Well, the gardens may be past their peak, but they're much better than the bare trees and dying grass we have here as winter approaches. Here's My Saturday Snapshot

And it really does look like spring-time! Somehow I always find it so hard to believe that when we're getting ready for snow, you are enjoying the lovely blooms of spring. All that lush green foliage is beautiful, too. It will be a while before we get any of that around here again.

Lovely green foliage and the flowers still have some colour.

When my daughter was in New Zealand and sent home pictures, she said they couldn't begin to capture the real beauty.

I do love a walk through a garden, even if it's a virtual one! Thanks for bringing some lovely moments today.

I actually like your state flower and it is sad to see the gardens past their prime, but there is always next year.

I could get lost all day wandering the gardens, even if they are out of season.

I wish I could be there for spring - I'm tired of the fall already.

Rhody's are very pretty! We have a lot of them here in Oregon.

You always take the most beautiful photographs. What a gorgeous garden.

It's so comforting to walk through all your photos from the Blackheath Mountains and see all Fibonacci patterns on the leaves's veins and Waratahs.

The leaves in the fourth photo look so soft I want to sleep on them :)
