One was a visit to Dick Bruna Huis at the Centraal Museum in Utrecht. It was opened Feb 16 2006 by HRH Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands as a tribute to Dick Bruna.
I loved the gold Miffy welcoming you inside.
Every museum and exhibition I saw in Holland was really cool. They put a lot of effort into how things are displayed, and do it imaginatively. Dick Bruna Huis was no exception.
So many Miffys!
So many translations.
Cute Miffy seats.
Dutch museums made great efforts for us English speakers.
It seems Miffy is popular in Japan too.
Lots of floor height activities for the littlies.
Animation figures for Miffy the Movie
There was an exhibition called With Miffy in the Attic, a rather odd intersection of Miffy with Contemporary Art.
I don't pretend to understand it.
I always find it interesting to see displays on how an author/illustrator/artist does their work. I don't think I knew that Dick Bruna did as much non-Miffy work as he did. He designed thousands of book covers and posters for the family A.W. Bruna & Zoon including Maigret covers.
Did I mention that I really loved gold Miffy?
The gift shop was loaded with many cool things, and everything Miffy.
Who wouldn't want a Miffy lamp?
I might have bought one if it wasn't
Completely Impractical to get back to Australia.

Fantastic! I didn't know there was a Miffy museum - another good reason to go to Holland. That's beautiful. No buds on my azalea yet. My Snapshot is at http://chriscross53.blogspot.co.uk/
Wonderful shots! I definitely want to go to Holland some day! Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
What a fascinating and fun exhibit! It looks like a place where even the adults feel like kids. Holland is on my long list of places to visit.
Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog today.

Very fun! Thanks for sharing. My Snapshots
What fun pictures! I've only been to the Netherlands once, and that was when I was 14 and only for a few days. I'd love to go again.
I wonder how well known Miffy is worldwide. I'd seen a little Miffy around before reading his 1001 book, but not so that I could have named the book or the author. It's really quite iconic.
Oh no why is Miffy being eaten by a crocodile??
Oh yes, I'm for Miffy over all others, including Hello Kitty. I used to love these books by Dick Bruna when my son was young. I think they were my faves, not necessarily his. But I just adored the character. Isn't it lovely to have a museum to honour both the author and the fictional creation.
I want a miffy lamp too now!! I used to use Miffy a lot when I was teaching. He was a great inspiration during painting sessions :-)
