Lifeline Bathurst Bookfair

Last week I travelled to Bathurst for the second year in a row for the Lifeline Book Fair at the Bathurst Showground.

Horse training has certainly changed since last I saw it

There's always lots of eager book hunters.

I don't think this is a political statement

There weren't as many copies of 50 Shades of Grey as I expected

There were two tables of kids books
where I spent a lot of my time

Master Wicker's enthusiasm didn't quite last that of his mothers

My 1001 haul
13 new titles

My non-1001 haul

Lifeline is a telephone counselling service and they hold many book fairs around the country to raise funds. They are annual events in most places. I've been attending two local book fairs for the past few years. I always bag a bargain (ie buy at least a big shopping bag of books). I'm not sure how many of last years books I've read yet. But I will at some stage. Planning for my dotage perhaps?

Saturday Snapshot is a wonderful weekly meme now hosted by WestMetroMommy

I love book fairs and this one looks a real success. You came away with some good books - I've had The Pattern in the Carpet on my wishlist for a while - enjoy your reading.

I love the opportunity to browse through a hoard of books, new or old. Quite a haul there for you!

I would love to just wander around a book fair. But then I'd want to do what Master Wicker did and just sit down to read. Here's Mine

I'll stop by any book sale. This one looks huge. Glad you could find some for your winter reads. :)

Now i'm curious about the book "Why I Hate Canadians".

Love that Master Wicker found a place to settle with a book!

We have a huge annual book fair in St. Louis that supports child care -- always a fun place to see books and the people who love them.

Love book fairs. I have to wonder if training the horses that way may not be too stressful for them.

I LOVE book fairs!! I agree with Irene about training horses that way. It doesn't seem safe.

That does look like an excellent book fair. I like the fact that Winnie the Pooh is tucked in the middle of your haul.

Love book sales-okay what is Why I hate Canadians-I did not think anyone hated us.

I think book fairs have something for everyone most of the time. Funny that the Canadians aren't familiar with Will Ferguson. I don't think anyone hates Canadians particularly. Indeed Will Ferguson is a Canadian satirist. I've only ever seen a little bit about his books before, and of course book fair prices are too good to pass up, so it came home with me. It's not currently on the reading schedule though.

Pattern in the Carpet is on my TBR pile too...and that was a Thiele title I didn't know.

I was in Bathurst this weekend (although briefly and busily)...missed the book fair & a chance to meet up with you - drats!

Great haul.

The book fair was actually last weekend Brona, still it was a close call- sorry to miss a meet up opportunity.

Love book sales as fundraisers ... my latest haul replaces what I donated ... smiles.

That's a fair I won't be attending in Paris unfortunately.
Looks like such fun. i miss those.
Have you heard or plan to read The Luminaries?
By Susan Catton. i'm plowing through and it beginning to feel like I picked the wrong plow at 800 pages (just 157 down).

That horse training pic surprised me too.
At least Master Wicker was reading while he waited for mom!
Wonderful to get books while supporting a good cause.

Such a nice book fair...
I have greatly enjoyed having Book Worm Central as my Virginia book fair vendor. They are efficient, courteous, and endlessly helpful. I have always been pleased with the book When I call, I speak to someone who really knows the business and can get me the answers I need. I know the staff’s names and they know mine, unlike some larger companies where I feel like I’m just another unknown customer. I highly recommend Book Worm Central as the best Virginia book fairs experience you will ever have in this area
