Intricate Scarf Tying Paris Style

It's always fabulous going to Paris in the summer. Those hot, hot Paris days are fantastic. But you really want it to chill down just a few degrees, the chocolat chaud is so much more tempting, and the scarves magically appear. Literally overnight.

Every Parisian knows how to tie a scarf. They wear them everywhere.

On the bus. Avec le chien, mais oui.

I see now that this is #3

At Le Jules Verne

I think this lady was actually Canadian,
but she was styling her scarf with the best of them.

They start learning young.

Sorry for the blurriness, it was getting dark.

And there's lessons in intricate scarf tying in pretty much every window.

For women

and men

There are lots and lots of websites to help us with tying scarves.Through the magic of youtube there are also many, many instructional videos on how to tie scarves for those of us who didn't grow up in Paris and learn at our mothers side.

How come SHE looks so good in the video, when I just look as if I've run away from the scaffold?

Scarves. Oh how I've tried with the scarves. Must save video for future reference.

I hear you Janine- I manage the same look much of the time.

Deb, it's a true skill I think. Must keep practicing. I've mastered a few new ones this year- but if I don't do it for about a week it's gone!

So much depends on the cut and fabric of the scarf itself but this is definitely useful as I have several scarves. I think I'll play with a few and see which one is the most versatile. Assuming I figure anything out, I'll take that one with e on my trip. Thanks!

This is such a useful post! Thanks for thinking about this idea, Louise. I'm always trying to find out ways to tie a scarf. Parisians sure have many styles to do it. I'm also participating in Paris in July this year. Just posted a movie review on the delightful French film Haute Cuisine. ;)
