Road Trip! Floriade

Last week we took advantage of a Random Tuesday Off and School Holidays to take an impromptu day trip to Canberra. It was a great day. Canberra was looking her spring time best. It was our first visit to Floriade in quite a number of years.

It was a riot of colour.

Not all were tulips of course

The hyacinths smelt amazing

My favourite individual flower I think

Sometimes my camera struggled with the vibrancy of the colours, so I played with it a bit and made a Warholish impressionist painting. I like it.

It would make a great jigsaw I think.

Saturday Snapshot, is a wonderful weekly meme from at home with books

You are reminding me of our own annual Tulip Festival here in Ottawa.
Lovely flowers!
These are great pictures that I wish were scratch and sniff!

The colors are gorgeous. I don't think of tulips in Australia. There are so many things I don't know about Australia. I'd better put it on my list of places to visit, but visiting your blog for photos each week is a good backup plan. Here's Mine

I don't think of tulips in Australia either! Beautiful photos, but how strange to see your spring flowers, when we have falling leaves, and chestnuts, and scarlet berries everywhere. My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/ksE6O

Wow... beautiful colours for jigsaw puzzles or postcards. Envy you're having spring while we're heading towards winter. I've got some fall photos, totally different worlds we live in.

I'm so jealous! Beautiful flowers are blooming in the southern hemisphere now... and soon everything will be dead here in the north. Enjoy your spring and all the lovely colors the flowers bring.

A gorgeous and riotous reminder that it's springtime in Australia!... Very odd as we contemplate the autumn leaves here in the states (but not so much on the west coast where I am)

Great photos Louise ... I put a few on Facebook but not that lovely fringed tulip which I photographed last year (or recently at least). You didn't tell me you were here - though as it turned out I wouldn't have been free as our son flew up on Monday and back to Melbourne on Wednesday so out time was devoted to him!

I thought the poppies were stunning.
