Hot off the press at Common Sense Media is this list of 50 Books All Kids Should Read Before They're 12. It's an interesting list. Essentially compiled by senior editor Regan McMahon. She has specifically tried to be more inclusive of content and genre, it's still primarily American in focus. Not an Aussie title to be seen sadly.

I do love your love of lists and there are some beauties on this one.

I too love these lists. I have only read 12 on this list, and 6 of them I've only read in adulthood. I'm glad I did. I'm feeling a bit inspired to ask my mum to help me compile a list of books I did read before I was 12. I know she tried to encourage us to read but I was a reluctant participant.
