Magnolias

Is there anything more magnificent than magnolias in bloom? Their peak is short, they still look nice when the foliage starts to come in but for me I just love those glorious few days when they burst into bloom. I haven't had much of a chance to capture images of this years magnolias, what with work, rain and courses, but I still managed to capture a few moments of stunning beauty.

They are lovely photos!

Magnolias look like china-painted wine glasses or tea cups to me - so elegant and around for such a short time.

We have magnolias here, and they are the same, but very different.

Our magnolia trees are covered with thick green leaves. The buds are much less common, but they are enormous in size, with a powerful lemony scent.

And the blooms are white, not pink.

Interesting.

Kath, thanks, I thought the photos were pretty good.

Debbie- I think maybe you have magnolia grandifloras? We have those too, but they're not as common as these ones. I like the grandifloras, but do prefer the others.
