Carb loading is important clearly. Any excuse for another visit to La Renaissance is always welcome. I just noticed it's pretty much bridge shaped... |
There are many stairs before you even start.
The morning weather was a bit iffy
but our timing was perfect! It was a perfect morning for it.
BridgeClimb is a fantastic experience. Sadly you're not allowed to take your own camera because of safety concerns so they take your photo in all sorts of silly poses up the arch, and so I'm not able to bombard you with the millions of photos I would otherwise have taken.
You walk out under the bridge traffic initially and then navigate up several ladders to get onto the eastern arch of the bridge (on the Opera House side). You walk across the top and descend down the western arch. I'm not particularly scared of heights and was never even slightly anxious once. It's not scary. It's exhilarating.
Saturday Snapshot is a wonderful weekly meme now hosted by WestMetroMommy |
So glad you got to experience this for yourself. It's a thrill regardless of the weather and the funky jumpsuits :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting thing to do. Congrats on your achievement! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks like great fun. I am afraid I would have to "train" for months before I was physically able to do that. Looks like everyone in your group enjoyed themselves.
ReplyDeleteI thought about doing it when we were there in March but decided it was too expensive. Glad you did it so I could hear about it!!
ReplyDeleteOh, awesome! I especially love the idea of the "carb loading." LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the great photos...and for visiting my blog.
Yes there are a lot of stairs to get up to the bridge deck from ground level. I found out just how many when i climbed them so I could try to run across the bridge. I would have made it across without walking but I was tired from running the City2Surf about an hour earlier (Yes I am crazy to try after running a 14k race but it was my only chance to walk/run across the bridge). I have thought about doing the Bridgeclimb one day but it is a lot of money and the exchange rate never seems to be in my favour. Maybe one day.

I've never heard of a Bridgeclimb. Intriguing. Probably not something I'd be able to do. I have a bit of a fear of heights.
ReplyDeleteNow I think I need to take a look at your life list.
What a great experience! I imagine my knees would have been knocking, but I hope I would have done it anyhow. The view from the top must have been amazing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog and leaving a comment.
Brona the funky jumpsuits do detract somewhat from the experience, but yes it's still worth it.
ReplyDeleteIt is very expensive Jackie- although I notice that they now have quicker, cheaper options, but still a reasonable outlay. It's something I've wanted to do for ages. I lived in Sydney for a long time, it did have to be done.
Sean- we do what we have to when travelling don't we?
This sounds interesting...
