I just love it so much! How stylish they all were, all nicely turned out for their wintry holiday. We think it was taken in 1937.
The man holding the baby is my grandfather, and even though he has been dead for nearly 20 years his face was what leapt out at me from the photo as soon as I saw it. I think he is holding my aunt. My grandmother died when I was very young so I don't remember her at all.
Saturday Snapshot is a wonderful weekly meme now hosted by WestMetroMommy
What a fab photo! Makes you wonder where they were all off too!
ReplyDeleteThat photo is a treasure! There are so many things I love about it: the three men in almost identical trench coats (leather?), the hats, the sign in the background. How delightful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful piece of family history. How times have changed - they all look so serious.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting to go to a family reunion! Love those old photos. We have boxes of them stored at my sister's house. I should dig them out. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteFamily reunions are a lot of fun. Our family doesn't have a lot of them (we usually wait for a wedding or funeral) but my wife's family has one each year. Looking back at the old photos is always fun but something I havent truly appreciated until quite recently.
ReplyDeleteLouise, What fun both to meet those relatives and to see where you all came from in photos.
ReplyDeleteOn another topic, are you interested in reading my novel? Send me an email so we can talk! I need some interest in Australia! paulita dot kincer at gmail dot com
That photo from the 30s reminds me of the shots of my parents when they were young...during that time.
ReplyDeleteI love how they often posed in front of their cars...so proud of the "new invention."
Thanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
We should do a family reunion!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that photo!
I see that the photo is a souvenir from Jenolan Caves, although none of the landscape behind your family looks like any of the current areas around Jenolan Caves. I imagine it would have been quite a challenge getting a vintage car down that road back then!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo. They look very stylish. We should all wear hats a bit more.
ReplyDeleteFabulous photo!
ReplyDeleteJust loaded with ambience
Lucky you!
So neat to have this piece of family history! I hope the family shared many more photos too! Photos really help the genealogy ... especially if they have names and dates and other graphic clues to the times and the places!
