Mr Wicker is a photographer. A pretty damn good one too. On our last trip to Europe in 2010 he took a big camera body and several lenses, and he took great photos, but it was big and heavy to lug around. This time he took his little Fuji X100 to simplify things. But the results were still big. Wherever we were.

Saturday Snapshot is a wonderful weekly meme now hosted by

He has some incredible sky shots there - only wish I could capture skies as well as that! My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/LAe6cu
ReplyDeleteAwesome shots! I always enjoy the moods conveyed by black and white photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...and for visiting my blog.
I first heard that phrase, "busman's holiday," last week at the writing retreat. A journalism professor took our journalism class, telling us she was taking a "busman's holiday." She had to explain the phrase to us.
ReplyDeleteWow. Amazing photos.I'm pretty sure that I could see that exact same scene and never get a photo like those. Here's Mine
ReplyDeleteThere should be an equally apropos phrase for a person who is a very bad amateur commenting on the work of a master. A phrase that covers the feeling I have in my heart when I see photographs like this, that explains the mix of awe and envy.
ReplyDeleteThe black and white images certainly darken the overall mood. I love them though.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are absolutely stunning!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the black and white shots!
ReplyDeleteWow - those sky images are awesome. I love the swan shot too! It is great to be able to get wonderful photos with the smaller camera instead of having to carry something big. Well done!
ReplyDeleteStunning photos. He is very talented.
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous! We struggle with how much camera equipment to take when we travel.

How impressive Mr. Wicker.
ReplyDeleteAn artist's eye for sure. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI've decided that it's not so much the camera as it is having a good eye for composition and Mr. Wicker certainly has that! Gorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteThese are spectacular and go way beyond their over-photographed site!
ReplyDeleteAmazing indeed

ReplyDeleteI'd say Mr. Wicker is darned talented. Absolutely beautiful and very dramatic!
ReplyDeleteSo true about the lighting. It makes the different between a good shot and a great one. These are spectacular.
ReplyDeleteWow, these are spectacular -- what wonderful records of your trip.
ReplyDeleteI remember these photos! I loved them the first time and I still do. Wonderful to see them again.
