Flotsam


I don't always like wordless picture books, but I just love this one. David Wiesner won the Caldecott Medal for the third time for Flotsam in 2007. And deservedly so. This is such a beautiful book, and tells a wonderful story. It's a modern day message in a bottle really.

Flotsam is the beautifully illustrated story of a young boy spending a day at the beach with his family. Certainly a familiar experience for may of us. 



He is an inquisitive young fellow.


And makes a great find on the beach, 


that takes him on a magical journey around the world, and through time.





Read it, even if you don't have a young person to read it with. It's fantastic.

    I have only read one totally wordless picture book before but it is now one of my all time favourite books! That book is The Arrival by Shaun Tan!
