Three weeks ago a friend and I went to the Trundle ABBA Festival. It was FABULOUS. Perhaps the most fun day ever. Turns out that drinking a bottle of Veuve on the bus on the way out is a great way to start the day though...
I'd never been to Trundle before. Every shop was decorated in ABBA style.
The day is capped off by a concert in the evening. The Kranksy Sisters were support act. And then Bjorn Again. Both were sensational. It was such a fun night.
Trundle is a small town in Western NSW. The ABBA Festival started in 2012 as a way to boost the Trundle community after years of drought and declining population.
2017 was the sixth year of the ABBA Festival, it won't be my last.

Looks really fun. Why do the Australians love Abba so much?
ReplyDeleteThat festival looks like so much fun, especially dancing in the streets. Sounds like you had a fantastic time.
ReplyDeleteMy Saturday Snapshot post features a nearby bonsai garden.

ReplyDeleteGinx, Australians really do love ABBA. I'm not sure why exactly. Of course they were huge in Australia in the 70s, and now I suppose it's nostalgia. Everyone knows the words to all the songs. The friend I went with is English though and she loves ABBA more than anyone I've ever known I think.
ReplyDeleteSandra it is an absolutely fantastic day. The atmosphere was amazing. It's rare to feel so much joy in one place.
What's NOT to love about ABBA???
ReplyDeleteI think it was also because ABBA toured Australia right at the height of our love for them, which made us love them even more (even if I was too young to go to the concert on my own and mum wouldn't take me *sigh* only regret of my life!!)
And they made a movie here too (I was allowed to go to the movies to see that)!
I will have to come to Trundle one year - it looks like a lot of fun :-)
Have you been to the Elvis festival in Parkes as well?
What a fantastic event! Silly, really, and honestly isn't that what the world needs more of? Silly? I know I do.
ReplyDeleteI never saw ABBA either on their tour- so deprived... It's an amazingly fun day Brona. I have been to Elvis too, a few times, once for the parade and have been to some events too. They're good, and fun, but not the sheer unadulterated pleasure of ABBA in Trundle.
ReplyDeleteWe do need more silliness Deb, it was wondrously silly. I can't wait to do it again.
